The 502 head features a characteristic bridge design. It has a longer sliding plate for a wider optimal camera balance range. The wider top plate — better suited to the shape of modern cameras — has two steel-insert 3/8" sockets on the sides for mounting accessories such as microphones, HD monitors, or lights directly to the head. Pan and tilt movements run on ball bearings with specially adjustable fluid cartridges, providing high precision even with very slight movements. Pan drag is easily adjusted with the ergonomic aluminum ring at the base of the head. The CBS counterbalance system and the long sliding camera plate allow optimal weight distribution, making camera operation and movement control effortless. The quick-release button for the sliding plate has been repositioned to face the operator. The handle (502PLV) is more ergonomic, lined with a specially textured material for a better grip, and can be mounted on either the right or left side of the head.
