Greenscreen - background keying
A cardboard green screen background for chroma keying has joined our offer. You can borrow it with special, portable tripods for mounting anywhere you like. In addition to the green background, we also have a "storm grey" background for studio photography.
A few tips for correctly preparing a green screen for post-production:
- the background must be lit evenly — we use two Yongnuo 300 LED panels placed on the left and right, lighting the green screen at a 45-degree angle (see the animation)
- keep the subject as far from the background as possible to avoid green spill on the person — it makes keying harder
- note that the lights illuminating the green screen do not interfere with the subject's lighting; the subject should be level with or further from the background than the lights (see the animation)
- record in the highest resolution possible, e.g. 4K
- do not use S-Log when shooting on a green screen — such profiles contain less colour information, which is important for keying
- a good practice is to use a hair light — a light shining from behind and above onto the hair (see the animation)
- try to make sure the subject is not wearing green
